Getting Feedback

Learn how you can get feedback to help improve your work on Teki-SL.

4 min read

There are three types of feedback you can get on your work:

  • Automated feedback from quizzes and practice checks, instant
  • Mentor feedback from community mentors and instructors
  • Private feedback from a friend, colleague, or teacher
What is the difference between automated feedback and mentor feedback?

Automated feedback is generated immediately: quizzes are graded the moment you submit, and practice labs check your work as you go. Mentor feedback is written by a person who looks at your work and suggests how to improve it. Mentors can give targeted feedback and discuss it with you, but you may wait hours or days for a response depending on how busy they are. You can get both on the same piece of work.

How do I request mentor feedback?

Post your work in the Mentorship or Support category of the community with a clear description of what you built and what kind of feedback you want. For course assignments, your instructor reviews the submission and grades it with comments.

How long until a mentor responds?

It depends on how many mentors are active and how many learners are asking. Our mentors are volunteers and do their best to respond quickly, keep learning in the meantime and check your notifications.

What about private feedback?

Sometimes you would rather hear from someone you know. Share a link to your work, a community post, your public profile, or your portfolio, directly with a friend, colleague, or teacher. If you are using Teki-SL as part of a class or bootcamp, this is the right way to send work to your teachers instead of the public queue.

Can I jump the mentoring queue?

Please do not message mentors privately to get faster feedback unless they have invited you to. It is likely to be considered spam and usually gets you a slower response, not a faster one.
